Volunteers Cover Honey Brook

As a long standing tradition, the Honey Brook Fire Company puts on a carnival every year for four Saturdays in a row. This is all run by the volunteers and is another way for them to make money. This year and as many years in the past, we were asked to cover the area for them while they all worked hard running the carnival. Auto Accident on Martin's Corner Road

At 10:36am the 34 volunteers were alerted to in front of 283 Martin's Corner Road for a auto accident. Tac 34 went enroute minutes later and was advised that the Police Department was onscene and had 1 vehicle into a tree with 1 patient to be checked by EMS. Captain 34 advised the Chester County Radio Room to dispatch a Medic unit for the driver of the vehicle due to the extent of their injuries. ... (Full Story & Photos) |

It is with deep regret that the Pomeroy Fire Company announces the passing of Chief Doug McGuigan. Doug passed away on Sunday May 25, 2008 after a battle with cancer. Chief McGuigan is a forty-year plus veteran to the fire service and has been a noted figure to the company since his father and two uncles also served as Fire Chiefs to the Pomeroy Fire Co. After doing some house cleaning, the volunteers were alerted to a simulated mva in the rear of station 34. Tac 34 took the short drive, followed by E-34-5 to provide lighting. Upon arrival they found one vehicle on its side. With exercising the skills of the members on the Chief's mind, he proceeded to establish the "back yard command". One On It's Side and Trapped

Just before midnight, volunteers were dispatched to the intersection of Kaolin Road and Lafayette Road in West Brandywine for the accident. Tac 34 arrived to find an SUV on its side. Crews quickly found the lone driver trapped and upgraded the assignment bringing the Medics and Rescue 35 (Wagontown). Today crews loaded up in Engine 34-1 and headed north for the evening. The Twin Valley Fire Department (69) were out in Montgomery County doing some National Haz-Mat testing involving most of their active volunteers. Just as the sun rose, volunteers were alerted to the 3000 block of Route 10 for the water heater fire. Fire was out on arrival. Just as the day crew backed into quarters, they were again alerted to assist 35 (Wagontown) with entrapment on Route 340 (see other story below). Units responded to Route 340 in the area of Coffroath Road for a vehicle into a pole and the driver pinned. Units arrived to find a two door pick-up truck into a telephone pole with wires down.
