Lightning Strikes In The 48-14 Box

Just after 6pm, the Company was alerted for an Engine and Ambulance to assist Glenmoore in the 1100 block of Manor Road for a reported dwelling fire. Engine 34-5 and Ambulance 34-2 responded on dispatch just as the thunder storm was winding down. Engine 34-5 and Engine 48-1 arrived together shortly followed by Truck 49. Chief 48 had the Manor Road Command and advised smoke showing. The men went to work ckecking the basement and found a small fire in the wall surrounding the electrical box caused by a lightning strike. Crews made quick work of the fire inside while the others took care of the fire on the outside where the lightning entered the dwelling. The fire was placed under control shortly before 19:00 hours and command held the box to one and one. Engine 34-5 and EMS cleared and were back in quarters just before 19:30.

Engine 34-5 let the Truck go in first to allow ladder operations if needed.
