On Sunday July 4th, Company 34 was alerted for 1 Engine to assist the Glen Moore Fire Company on the 100 block of Indian Run Road in Wallace Township for a dwelling fire. As Engine 34-1 signed on the air, Chief 48 arrived to find a working dwelling fire and added 2 additional tankers, which added Engine 34-5 to the assignment. Engine 34-1 arrived and took position in the side yard. The crew from Engine 34-1 reported to Command and were instructed to put a line in service to the rear of the dwelling. Crews encoutered heavy fire throughout and were forced to attack the fire from the exterior of the residence. Engine 34-5 arrived and dumped their load on water into the fold-a-tank at the bottom of the driveway. Engine 34-5 then shuttled numerous loads of water in the tanker shuttle. Water supply was a challenge due to the narrow raodways and the availability of a secure water source. Engine 34-1 reported back in to command and suggested that we move Engine 34-1 into the rear yard and use the swimming pool for a secure water source. The crew from Engine 34-1 removed part of the fencing that surrounded the rear yard and took position at the pool. Engine 34-1 placed numerous lines in service and secured a water supply for the duration of the fire. Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the fire. Ambulance 34-1 provided rehab during the incident.
Thank you to the crew from Christiana Fire Company that provided coverage at Station 34 while we operated at this incident.
