By Fire Chief Dan Metzler
July 23, 2010

During the regular company buisness meeting, the long awaited decision was made to begin station renovations. The building committee has worked long and hard for the past few years evaluating different floor plans and proposals.
The work was awarded to M&Z Builders, who have worked with us providing countless hours of guidance during this second stage of renovations.
The "new" facility will include showers, male and female bunkrooms, a kitchen, new lounge, computer data room and dedicated EMS supply room. We will also have a new engineer's room and trustee's room when completed.
As many of you know, we have added our own paid staff to keep up with the ever increasing call volume at no cost to the township or the residents. With staff in the station 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this building renovation will be a welcome sight to them. This renovation will also allow the volunteers to have a fully functional facility to live in during inclimate weather.

Work has officialy started today, and will continue for another two months. Stay tuned for updates throughout the next couple of months.

UPDATE: As we move into July, M&Z continues to plug along with our renovation. As of this date, the drywall is up, most of the rough plumbing and electrical work is complete on the downstairs project. Some painting and trim works has begun and completion of the downstairs is expected to be done by August. Once the downstairs is complete, M&Z will move on to the upstairs where they will have a few weeks of work.

SECOND UPDATE: M&Z continues to move along and will be done the downstairs before August. The majority of the work left downstairs is some painting, trim work and flooring. The kitchen will be complete by the weekend and flooring will not be installed for another couple of weeks. Volunteers spent drill night clearing out the upstairs rooms and will continue the clean out this weekend. Work is expected to begin upstairs on the 26th.
